Business
Every initiative in the organization, not only in IT, is classified by the value it delivers:[1]
| Category | Intent | Typical initiatives |
|---|---|---|
| Run | Operate with excellence today | Critical operations without interruption; Lean, automated administrative processes; repetitive tasks executed by AI with human validation; reliable operating information |
| Grow | Scale the business | Replicable processes to expand faster; AI automation that increases volume without growing headcount at the same pace; decisions based on sales and profitability analytics |
| Transform | Prepare the future | New AI-enabled capabilities, such as predictive planning; data-based collaboration with partners; new digital channels and business models |
Gartner created the model to categorize IT spending and notes that more mature organizations also use it to segment business capabilities and business units.[1] ILEA extends it to the whole organization; the extension and the typical initiatives are the author’s adaptation.
